Pictured above is probably the most unique road that I have been on. Before going there, I saw some pictures of it and knew I had to go because it looked so beautiful. When I got to the area, I noticed that there were different roads that lead to different lookouts. I wasn’t sure which turn lead to the road in all the pictures I saw and came for.
Eventually, I took a turn onto a one-way road. Cars were behind me, so I wasn’t able to turn around at any point if it wasn’t the right path I was looking for. After driving a little bit, I realized it was what I was looking for, but not everything looked the same in real life. The details that were revealed by actually being there were more beautiful in person. I had no idea mountains were on one side of the path, that the road was so twisty and long or that there were trails and other lookouts in the area.
This road reminded me a lot about the road I’ve taken in life. My lifestyle is a lot different than others, but I know that God has called me to do it to make a difference for Him in one way or another. When I first started this crazy journey moving every year, it felt a lot like turning onto this road not knowing exactly if it was the right one. Making my first move, I felt God telling me I can’t turn around because I’m almost where I need to be to see that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be just like the cars behind me on this one-way street did, theoretically.
Sometimes the path you’ve pictured for your life doesn’t always turn out to be exactly what you thought it would look like. When your plans fall through, it is so God's plans for you can fall together. It might even turn out more beautiful than what you imagined just like the other details from this place revealed that wasn’t shown in the pictures I saw before going.
Jeremiah 29:11 states that The Lord knows His plans for us and that those plans are good for us. The verses after that tell us He will listen to us when we pray and that we can find Him when we seek Him with all our heart. No matter what path you take in life, seek God in every decision and turn you make along the road because that’s how to find His plans for you. You may have an idea of what your path and journey looks like, but it is the Lord who establishes our steps, so some beautiful details might reveal themselves that you didn’t see coming (Proverbs 16:9).
If you’re on that one-way road now and feel like you can’t turn around, it’s because God is not finished yet and He will bring you to completion. Philippians 1:6 says “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Do what you genuinely love with Christ at the center. All of your characteristics, interests, passions and gifts that make you different from "the normal" is how God wants to be seen and heard through you. Don't ignore or hide that from the world because the world needs it. God gave you that passion to make a difference for Him, so it is going to look different. Pray to have the courage to step out of your comfort zone and do what is different than other people. Be confident and excited for the journey that you are on with and for God.
I have great confidence that your plans for me are greater than anything I can plan and make happen on my own. I trust in you completely. Please help me to use the passions and talents you have given me to give back to you and to have the courage to do so even when my path looks different than "normal".
